Kenya Trip Update #2: Traveling with Rose

This is Rose Jeffa.  Rose is a well known musician in Kenya.  She likes to preach the gospel.  So she loads up a van with a few powerful speakers, and drives around looking for a crowd to preach to.  Then she gets out, sings a few songs, and starts preaching.   We joined her for a few days.  I admire her simplicity and boldness in preaching the gospel.

Setting up the van

Here Rose has stopped in a village, and begun to sing.

Then Ruby took the mic to speak a few words.

Preaching in Mtwapa

Then we moved on and stopped in Mtwapa.  Mtwapa is quite a large town, about 70000 people.  It is a place with a lot of prostitution, AIDS, and crime.   An armed robbery took place 100 meters from us while we were working in the studio last week.   Christians there are nervous about holding public evangelistic crusades, because of the bomb attacks that have been taking place in Christian gatherings in Kenya.

In Mtwapa, a larger crowd gathered, over 300 people.  Rose, myself, and Ruby spoke to them.  About 20 put their faith in Jesus.  I even witnessed several Muslims give their hearts to the Lord.  We stayed there for about two hours, preaching and praying for people.

It was good to see Ruby steeping out and preaching a little bit for the first time.  Today it is Elisa's turn.  I believe very strongly in the public testimony of Jesus Christ.  The New Testament is filled with accounts of public testimonies, public sermons and public confrontations.

Rev 12:11(11)  And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.
